Structured Day Treatment
Our Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP) is a structured form of mental health treatment that provides intensive care for individuals struggling with various mental health issues, while allowing them to return home in the evenings. Our program offers a middle ground between inpatient hospitalization and outpatient therapy, making it suitable for those who need more intensive treatment than traditional outpatient services, but who don't require 24/7 inpatient care.
Program Details
Our Partial Hospitalization and Day Treatment Program (PHP) is best suited to individuals who require ongoing, intensive treatment and support for substance use disorder, but who no longer require 24-hour supervision. It's designed for those who need a structured, high level of care, but who may be unable to enter a residential program. It's also suited to those who have completed detoxification and/or residential treatment, and who are transitioning toward greater independence in their recovery journey. Some clients use PHP as a "step down" from our Residential Treatment Program and a bridge to their daily lives. Reliable housing and transportation, and a stable support system and home life, contribute to a client's success in day treatment.
Our PHP is offered at our warm and welcoming treatment center in central Houston. While program duration is dependent on an individual's needs, most clients move through our PHP in approximately four weeks. Programming takes place for five to six hours a day, four days per week, onsite at our outpatient treatment center. Clients return to their own homes or a sober living residence each evening.
Partial hospitalization programming is similar in structure to our residential program. Clients meet with a member of our medical team once a week to discuss their overall medical and health concerns. They may be evaluated by one of our psychiatrists to help address any co-occurring mental health issues, then assigned to a primary therapist who becomes their main contact and care director throughout treatment.
Clients attend individual, one-on-one therapy once a week and group sessions twice each day. They also meet with their entire treatment team each week to assess progress and the next steps in the recovery process.

Treatment plans are tailored to an individual's specific mental health needs and diagnosis, including therapy for their specific condition, such as cognitive-behavioral therapy, dialectical behavior therapy, trauma therapy, or other evidence-based therapies.
Our highly structured PHP treatment schedule includes individual therapy, group therapy, psychoeducation, and therapeutic activities, for a total of 20-24 hours per week.
Group therapy provides a supportive environment where individuals can share experiences, learn from others, and practice coping skills. Each week, a client participates in 20 hours of group work, including at least 10 hours of group therapy.
Medication management is provided for those who require psychiatric medications as part of their treatment. Our services include medication evaluation, adjustments, and monitoring by a psychiatrist or other qualified medical professional.
Psychoeducation sessions allow individuals to learn more about their condition, treatment options, and coping strategies. Along with evidence-based topics focusing on recovery, the following topics are addressed during PHP:
Family therapy or education helps family members understand their loved one's condition and provide support. All PHP clients have access to a weekly family education and support group.
We have protocols in place to address crises or emergencies, ensuring that individuals receive necessary care and support during challenging times.
We work closely with outpatient providers and other mental health professionals to ensure that individuals receive consistent and effective treatment.
Aftercare Planning helps individuals transition to lower levels of care or ongoing outpatient treatment upon completing PHP.
Our compassionate admissions team is available from 8am-10pm to help you begin your journey to recovery.
