Mylene is a Licensed Professional Counselor who helps clients navigate recovery from eating disorders, substance use, trauma, and other mental health concerns. She began her career as an intern at a residential treatment program for adolescents with eating disorders in Houston, and has since worked with both adolescents and adults across different levels of care, including at Monte Nido & Affiliates, Meadows, and UT Health.
Mylene believes healing is a journey that takes time and asks a great deal of a person. She shows up to sessions in an authentic way, holding that helping clients feel safe and comfortable is a cornerstone of treatment. Her approach is warm and encouraging while still challenging clients when it serves their growth.
Mylene completed her Master's in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at the University of St. Thomas and her Bachelor's degree in Psychology at the University of Houston-Downtown. She is trained in Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT), and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), tailoring evidence based approaches to each client's needs. Her areas of focus include substance use, trauma, eating disorders, and mood and anxiety concerns.
Mylene serves as a board member and membership chair for Houston Eating Disorder Specialists (HEDS), and she speaks regularly in the community out of a commitment to increasing awareness and information on mental health issues. Most recently she presented at the 2026 HEDS Community Conference on “Walking Alongside Recovery: What to Know When Supporting Someone With an Eating Disorder.” In her home country she is a co-founder of Cabelegria, a nonprofit that turns hair donations into wigs for people undergoing cancer treatment and those living with alopecia.
Outside of therapy, Mylene enjoys spending time with family and friends, baking sourdough bread, tending to her plants, and reading.
Our compassionate admissions team is available from 8am-10pm to help you begin your journey to recovery.
