Individual Therapy
Therapy can play an essential role in overall mental health and wellbeing. Our team of professional therapists prioritize providing a nonjudgmental environment for individuals to explore underlying factors that affect their mental health, such as past trauma, family dynamics, emotional struggles, or other life stressors. In one-on-one therapy, we provide our clients with the focused time and space to address their struggles, and the guidance and tools to work toward positive change.
When it comes to treating substance use disorder, individual therapy allows for a highly personalized approach to treatment and recovery, enabling the therapist to understand a client's unique circumstances, triggers, and underlying issues. At Luna, our work begins with a comprehensive psychological evaluation to assess the severity of substance use, identify any co-occurring mental health issues, and evaluate a client's motivation for change.
Our therapists are highly experienced in helping clients develop healthy coping skills and strategies to manage cravings, triggers, and stressors, without resorting to substance use. In session, therapist and client work together to set achievable recovery goals and develop a relapse prevention plan. When integrated with other forms of treatment, including family therapy and group therapy, individual therapy can significantly enhance the prospect of successful and sustained recovery.
Family Therapy
Mental health issues and substance use have an effect on the whole family, not just on those who are struggling. That's why we believe in facilitating healing for the entire family unit.
The principles of family therapy are based on the belief that families are systems in which each member affects other members of the family. Because changes in one part of the system can cause changes elsewhere, family therapy focuses on changing a family’s patterns of interaction, rather than trying to change each individual.
At Luna, we help families work together to identify the root causes of issues, including substance use, and develop a plan for moving forward. Therapists guide participants in understanding behavioral patterns that may be causing problems in their relationships, and develop new, more positive ways of relating to one another. Therapy can help families heal old wounds, learn new coping skills, and build a stronger support system.
In therapy, family members learn how to best help a struggling individual on the path to wellness. When it comes to substance use, accountability and encouragement from within the family system can mean the difference between relapse and recovery.
Group Therapy
Our group therapy sessions offer a supportive community where individuals can share their experiences with those who have similar challenges. Group sessions provide a safe, nonjudgmental space for participants to gain insight into their own struggles while learning from the perspectives and experiences of others. Through this collective approach, participants often find a sense of validation and belonging among their peers. This leads to reduced feelings of isolation, fosters socialization, and encourages the understanding that they're not alone in their struggles.
The diversity of experiences within a group can lead to a broader range of coping strategies and personal growth opportunities. In group sessions, participants learn how to both give and receive meaningful support.
